Heia Open is taking an important step forward in 2026 by strengthening our efforts to make open water swimming accessible for para swimmers.
Our goal is to give swimmers with disabilities the opportunity to experience achievement, community and the joy of swimming in nature. This year, we offer an open para class with three distances: 100 m (Abbor’n), 400 m (Laka) and 1500 m (Gjedda).
Safety and individual adaptation are key priorities. Participants may swim with a support swimmer if needed, and wetsuits and essential equipment are available for rent. Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels safe, included and well supported – regardless of ability or experience.
This initiative is part of our broader vision of making open water swimming accessible to everyone. We believe nature should be an arena for achievement, experiences and community – for para swimmers as well.
